Exercising in Your Tiny Home? Yes, you can!

Exercising in Your Tiny Home? Yes, you can!

Regular exercise is critical to living a happy, healthy life. Carving out a workout space within your tiny home is a priority often missed by owners. It might not be something you think about while designing your plans, but don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be complicated or involve major changes. Getting regular exercise when living in a tiny house is easy, and there are so many creative options.

Hiding your Gear

When you have a large house with a lot of space and light, you don’t always think about storage. With a small house, it’s all you think about. In order to get a clean, open space to live in, you have to be clever about how you hide your gear.

Foldable Treadmills

Thankfully there are foldable treadmills available for those of us who live tiny, and although they are full featured, they will fold up easily enough for you to stash them under a bed or in a closet.

Tiny Home Workout Room

Build Your Core, Not Your Clutter

Core training is one of the easiest things you can do at home, and there’s no end to the number of different easy-to-store pieces of gym equipment you can pick up and use to build your core strength.

You can store small weights easily inside seats of chairs. At the very least, you should have room to perform some basic workouts to stretch your muscles. You can also do ab workouts wherever there is enough room to sit on the floor. Resistance bands can be looped through nearly anything to provide a bit of tension for a great workout also.

Woman Working Out

You don’t really need a huge amount of space to practice high-intensity interval training with jumping jacks or running in place. You can also fit a yoga mat just about anywhere for a zen workout. Using ladders or installed grab bars, you can do squats and lunges to get a great lower-body workout.

YouTube!!

If you’ve not exercised in a while or have no idea where to start, check out YouTube, I found lots of Tiny Housers sharing their work-out routines.

It’s true that exercise can help:

  1. Control Weight
  2. Combat Health Conditions & Diseases
  3. Improve Mood
  4. Boost Energy
  5. Promote Better Sleep

But, if all else fails and you cannot figure out how to work out inside your tiny home, you can always clean. House cleaning can work up quite a sweat and burns a good number of calories. Plus your home will be sparkling and new when you are done!
